Literature Express There are 48 states and around 100 languages in Europe. The view from the train shows that languages are treasures, translators are artists, and the cargo on this "freight" train is Europe's linguistic heritage. Hear the sound! As it crosses 13 international frontiers this summer, the Literature Express Europe 2000 will unite countries and cultural memories on a poetic trail of discourse.

Manifesta 2

Manifesta is a new European biennial of contemporary art. ...The artists should not be judged according to geographical, national or regional criteria but should be treated and considered as equals taking part in a high-quality exhibition. Manifesta 2 should by no means be a diplomatic exhibition. Since it is not bound to any quota of national representation, Manifesta 2 aims at proving that, henceforth, the spotlight is turned on top contemporary art produced on the major international scenes - in Europe and worldwide. Robert Fleck, Maria Lind, Barbara Vanderlinden

Train spotting For me the most pleasant part of the railwayhobby is taking pictures of unusual railway events. That can be an extra train with special (foreign) rolling-stock, sometimes with special (steam) traction, a train running on a "strange" part of the railway-track, diverted trains, old locomotives that come back in service etc. And sometimes even railway-accidents.
